Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared with certainty that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election, dismissing suggestions of defeat as baseless.

Wike’s comments came in response to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who recently predicted that Tinubu would come third in the next general election.

“My friend goofed. Since you know Tinubu will come third, he should have also said who will be first and second. Which run-off? Who to who? It’s not possible. I will put a bet that if Tinubu contests, he will win squarely,” Wike stated confidently.

The minister insisted that Tinubu’s chances remain strong, arguing that those speculating otherwise were engaging in wishful thinking. He urged opposition politicians to focus on building strategies rather than spreading pessimism about election outcomes.

“Tell me which election in this country people did not accuse the winner? Mention one. Apart from Jonathan, who conceded defeat, no one has. I don’t like excuses. What I cannot do, I will say it is not possible. But people must stop this complaint,” he said.

Wike stressed that political leaders should prepare for elections seriously instead of relying on predictions or excuses. He maintained that Tinubu remains the most formidable candidate heading into 2027.
