The tragic death of Ruth Otabor, sister to reality TV star Josephina “Phyna” Otabor, has taken another turn as her longtime partner, Mr. Daniel Adebo, breaks his silence.

Ruth, who recently lost her life in a fatal accident involving a Dangote truck, left behind an eight-month-old baby, sparking public sympathy and questions about her partner’s absence during her final days.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Daniel claimed he was financially responsible for Ruth and her child for years, including covering her school fees, living expenses, and even caring for her son from a previous relationship.

According to him, despite being Ruth’s partner, he was allegedly excluded from major decisions regarding her treatment in Lagos. Daniel alleged that he had to seek Phyna’s approval before being allowed to visit Ruth while she was hospitalized.

He said:

“The reason I didn’t respond when Phyna called me irresponsible is because of my woman. I don’t want her to wake up and see me involved in any drama. All I am after is her recuperation. I want to come to Lagos to be by her side, but they said I must take permission from Phyna.”

Daniel further revealed that he had been paying Ruth’s tuition for three years, up until her graduation preparations a few months ago. He alleged that Phyna’s contribution came only recently in the form of a graduation gown and wig.

“I have been the one taking care of her, even the son she had before I met her, and also the child we have together,” he said.

Challenging Phyna directly, he added:

“If I am lying, Ruth’s mother is my witness — unless they have influenced her to say otherwise. I challenge Phyna to post screenshots of any money she has sent Ruth in the last three years. If she has, I will bow my head in shame.”

The controversy has stirred heated reactions online, with many fans questioning the strained relationship between Phyna and her late sister’s partner. While Phyna has publicly mourned Ruth and expressed frustration at her partner’s silence, Daniel insists he has been deeply involved in Ruth’s life and that his quietness was out of respect for her recovery before her untimely passing.

As emotions continue to run high, the tragedy has left many Nigerians reflecting on the family rift and the struggles Ruth faced before her death.
