The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Eze Elechi Amadi for killing his 18-year-old younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi, during a dispute over ₦20,000.

Amadi was paraded in Akure alongside 99 other suspects over the weekend.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, the case was reported by one Oluwafemi Oladipupo of Paragon Street, Kajola, who raised alarm over a suspicious blue plastic drum tied with a black rope left in front of his residence. On inspection, the lifeless body of Otu Ifeanyi was found inside the drum.

Investigations revealed that Amadi had placed the drum on a motorcycle in an attempt to dispose of the body, but it reportedly fell off, drawing attention. He was immediately apprehended and handed over to the police.

During interrogation, Amadi confessed to killing his brother, accusing him of unlawfully transferring ₦20,000 from his Ecobank account.

Commissioner Lawal said:

“The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary while further investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.”
