In an extraordinary and deeply concerning development in Anambra State, an 18-year-old boy has reportedly been responsible for the pregnancies of at least ten young women. The gravity of the situation has prompted the Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, to publicly seek guidance on how to navigate this complex matter, admitting that it surpasses her professional capacity.

Commissioner Obinabo initially brought the issue to light via a Facebook post, followed by a live video address where she provided a detailed account of the unfolding events. She explained that the young man, at the age of eighteen, was placed as an apprentice under a businessman. However, within a mere three months of starting his apprenticeship, he allegedly impregnated both his employer's daughter and a female sales employee. This led to his immediate dismissal and return to his home village in Anambra State.

Shockingly, the situation escalated further when, within just two months of his return, the teenager is said to have impregnated an additional eight girls within his community. The Commissioner shared the emotional distress of the boy's mother, who approached her office in desperation. The mother reportedly expressed that the sight of any young girl approaching her house now fills her with anxiety and pleaded for urgent intervention to address the escalating crisis.

During her live address, Commissioner Obinabo openly appealed to the public for solutions, stating, "I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity." She even pondered the possibility of a non-conventional explanation, asking, “Is it spiritual?”

Elaborating on the boy's alleged methods, Obinabo recounted her conversation with him, stating that he claimed to consistently tell the girls that he loves them and intends to marry them once he achieves financial stability. The Commissioner emphasized the unique challenges posed by the boy's young age coupled with the sheer number of pregnancies involved, reiterating her need for public assistance in finding a viable resolution to this unprecedented social issue.
