17-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Open Water in Dandalama Village, Kano State

In a heartbreaking incident, a 17-year-old boy, Lurwanu Suleiman, has drowned in open water in Dandalama village, situated in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The tragic event occurred on Tuesday afternoon and was confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service in an official statement released on Wednesday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.

According to Abdullahi, the fire service received an emergency call at exactly 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday from a resident, Malam Aminu Dandalama, reporting the drowning incident.

“We immediately dispatched our rescue team to the scene at about 1:25 p.m.,” the spokesperson stated.


Sadly, upon arrival, the rescue team recovered the body of Lurwanu Suleiman from the water. He was declared lifeless at the scene. His body was subsequently handed over to the Ward Head of Dandalama village, Alhaji Safiyan Usman, for proper arrangements.

The Kano State Fire Service added that the exact cause of the drowning remains under investigation.
