In a bold move to restore professionalism and discipline within its ranks, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that 151 senior officers are currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings for various allegations of misconduct and ethical violations.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the disciplinary hearings commenced on Monday, July 14, 2025, and will continue until Friday, July 25, 2025. The proceedings are taking place at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Who Is Being Investigated?

The officers under review are ranked Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above, drawn from multiple commands and formations across Nigeria.

The disciplinary actions are being handled by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC)—a key internal structure mandated to review and adjudicate breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations in line with established police procedures.

Transparency and Accountability in Focus

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized that the NPF is committed to a “thorough and transparent review process,” ensuring that internal accountability is upheld and that justice is served both fairly and in accordance with the law.

The outcomes of these proceedings will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC), which holds the authority to determine appropriate sanctions or clearances.

IGP Egbetokun Speaks on Police Reform

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to restoring discipline, professionalism, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

He stated:

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public trust. This disciplinary process reflects our determination to build an accountable, service-driven institution where the rule of law is respected from within.”

The IGP further reiterated that no officer, regardless of rank or status, will be shielded from disciplinary actions when found wanting.
