Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that he is not desperate to return to office despite calls for his reinstatement. Speaking at a service of songs in honor of late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, Fubara said, "My spirit has already left there," hinting that he has moved on from the situation.

The governor made this remark in response to speakers at the event who referred to him as "Governor" and criticized his suspension, calling for its reversal. Fubara distanced himself from their comments, describing them as personal opinions that may not promote peace.

He cautioned against actions that could worsen the situation, urging attendees to focus on paying tribute to Edwin Clark's selfless life and advocacy for the Niger Delta region. Fubara's suspension was imposed by President Tinubu on March 18, along with his deputy and the entire State House of Assembly members, due to the ongoing political crisis between him and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
