A disturbing incident has unfolded in Plateau State, Nigeria, where at least 37 cattle were shot dead in the Tashek community of the Riyom local government area. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) reported the attack, which occurred around 1 PM on Sunday.

According to MACBAN representative Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, gunmen stormed the area and opened fire on grazing cattle, killing 37 and injuring a herder. The attack follows a similar incident in the Tanjol community, where five cattle were killed and two herders injured.

Babayo condemned the attack as unprovoked and suggested it was a deliberate attempt by the assailants to achieve ulterior motives. He has contacted security agencies, including the Operation Safe Haven commander, and efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.

The incident highlights the growing concern over attacks on herders and their livestock in the region. Babayo urged community members to remain calm and trust security forces to address the rising violence.
