The British tattoo artist finally heard the long-awaited “yes” from his girlfriend, Sarah, after seven years of trying. Their heartwarming journey, first reported by The Sun, began in 2018 when Luke popped the question just six months into their relationship.
“I just said, ‘No, we’ve only been together for six months,’” Sarah recalled. Despite loving him, she wasn’t ready to make such a big commitment so soon. “I loved him, but I didn’t want to say ‘yes’ to something I later retracted,” she explained.
Undeterred, Luke turned each “no” into inspiration, planning increasingly romantic proposals over the years. He rented a castle in Prague, arranged candlelit dinners, and even set up a horseback ride along a sun-kissed beach in Jamaica—all in a bid to win Sarah’s heart.
During his 42nd proposal, Sarah softened, telling Luke: “Next time you ask, I’m going to say ‘yes,’ but just you wait.”
A year later, Luke found what felt like the perfect moment. He took Sarah to Greenwich in South East London, home of Greenwich Mean Time at the Royal Observatory.
“He said, ‘This is the center of the world, and you are the center of my world, and I want you to marry me,’” Sarah recalled.
This time, without hesitation, she answered with a simple but powerful “Yes.”
“He finally won my heart,” she shared, adding with a laugh, “He should probably get a Guinness World Record. I am grateful he persisted for so long.”
The couple crowned their love story with a beautiful destination wedding in Jamaica this May, proving that sometimes, love really does take time—and a little stubborn dedication.
